Where's Waldo?

Merry Christmas from Shane and Ryan to everyone from the Vegas Strip.

Red Rocks climbing gym

It was a little windy and cold so we decided to check out the local gym. This is me chillin out on their cool stalactite feature, smack dab in the middle of their bolted ceiling! One of the coolest indoor climbs I have ever done!

Season Greetings from the Strip

Simultaneous time zones!

Is my left arm in the future and my right in the present or is my left in the present and my right in the past?

Shane on the back side with the Hoover Dam bypass under construction in the background. Should be amazing when finished, and should beat out the New River Gorge Bridge in height by 25ft!

Hoover Dam!

Dam that's HUGE!

I always wanted to be cyclops from the X-Men growing up. That or Geordi La Force from Star Trek.

Always knew Shane was an Alien

Gelatin Pooch 5.10a

Shane working his first 5.10 which he sent the next day! Congrats to Shane!

Shane looking over the strip from the highest point in NV

X-Scream Stratosphere

Not that rock climbing isn't extreme enough but we also have an appetite for thrill rides.

$5 Prime Rib!

Not the best prime rib we've ever had but still the best deal on the strip and fine dining for climbing bums like ourselves!

Fremont St.

Full with lobster Shane and I explore the famous Fremont St, which is only a few blocks walk away from our sleazy motel which we got for $140 a week! Got to love Vegas.

So delicious

Shane enjoying our $4 lobster, which beats a McDouble any day.

And we WON!

Took us two tries but hey $4 lobster is still a great deal.

Only in Vegas

That's right. At the Vegas Club casino they have a lobster claw game, where for $2 you can win a lobster that they cook for you! You know we gave it a try.

Still on Yaack Crack

On a side note I blew the anchors with the slack out and took a 20ft plus whipper. Probably the second biggest fall I've taken!

Red Rocks Vegas

Working "Yaack Crack" 5.11c

I lost my sun glasses...twice!

And this is my replacement pair

Only at Venice beach

I haven't seen a fanny pack since the 90's

Randy's Donuts

You can tell by the serious look on Shane's face that he plans on eating the entire dozen.

Pink's

Getting down on a Pink's famous chili dog. The chili stays on your breath for days but is totally worth it.

Record Plant Studios

I'm mixing some tracks in the studio. Watch out for my new single coming out next spring! Thanks again to Jaime for giving us the full L.A. experience! Also I was corrected on my spelling, it is Robin Thicke and Pharrell.

L.A. sunset

Enjoying a sunset that only L.A. smog could deliver

Wednesday, December 9, 2009

Full with Rosco's chicken and waffles, we are off to Vegas!

Tuesday, December 8, 2009

Playing pool at Record Plant studios while The Game lays down tracks in the booth!
So we are in Hollywood hanging out with our friend Jamie at her job which is the Record Plant studio. Just met Robin Thick and Farrell is on the way.
Left the storm in Bishop for the sunny skies of L.A. In Hollywood now about to enjoy a Pink's famous chili dog for breakfast!

Snagged today in the "Free Box" at the campground; detergent, paper towels, National Geographic mag and a bag of mixed candy with only Heath bars left!

Rest day

Enjoying a rest day at one of the many hot springs surrounding Bishop.

This is the Cave problem a V4 on the back side of the Grandpa boulder at the Buttermilks. It is pretty easy going till you have to stick a heinous sloper. I didn't send on this take but the next day it went on the first go. Lillian, notice the repping of the Sportrock shirt!

Serengeti V5

Sticking the toe hook on Serengeti V5, one of the coolest problems I have done.

Ketron Classic V4

Pulling the reachy crux of Ketron Classic. Wouldn't have probably sent without Shane's beta who spotted a unchalked money hold.

The Flake

You ain't cool unless you let your feet cut on a V1

Nice wallpaper shot

This currently serves as my wallpaper and feel free to use it for yours

My first true highball problem

I am on a unnamed V0 on the sunshine boulder.

Climbing at the Buttermilks!

Shane on a unnamed V3. Probably one of the best shots I've taken on this trip.

Feeling bummed

So after taking two days off to let our finger tips harden for our first day at the Buttermilks, I some how strained my back in my sleep! It hurts to take deep breaths and range of motion is limited. How I did this I don't know, but am taking a third rest day in hopes that the pain dissipates enough to climb tomorrow.

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Someone left a bag of fortune cookies in the "free box" at camp! Shane and I have done most of the cookie fortunes. Guess they are really past cookies.

Last shot of the day

Shane getting ready to pull the crux of "Carrot Top" V3... with the dirty hippie looking on hoping to snag some beta.

Shots of the day

Me scoping out the top on "Bleached Bones" V4. Another notable send that day was the ultra classic "Serengeti" V5.

Alcatraz

This shot was taken off of the Pacific Coast Hwy. Some of the most beautiful driving we have ever done!

Reached the Pacific

Standing in the Pacific Ocean for the first time.

Sunday, November 22, 2009

Just left San Fran and are now in Bishop the best place EVER!

Saturday, November 21, 2009

Stayed at a Motel 6 in Oakland with a gate kiosk and security guard. Some how I didn't feel safer.

Friday, November 20, 2009

Standing at the base of El Cap

Shane and I climbed El Cap...well at least the first 20ft of it. I guess you could say I am projecting it for when I get back!

Guess who else?

Here is Tommy's partner, Kevin Jorgeson, another accomplished high ball boulder climber. Tommy and Kevin have been working on freeing the old aid route of Mescalito on El Capitan. Other notable climber sightings was Dean Potter at Camp 4.

Guess who I met at the base of El Cap

Me and Tommy Caldwell after his last day attempt at his hardest new route on El Cap.

For all you tree huggers out there

Hugging the base of a giant sequoia tree, the largest living thing on this planet!

Yosemite Valley

Enjoying the most picturesque view of the valley

Almost ran out of gas in the salt flats, but we made it and are moving on to Reno and the Yosemite!
Great day at Momentum gym in SLC! The nicest gym we have been in. Shane sent his first 5.10 indoors and is ready to tackle the outdoors.

Sunday, November 15, 2009

Just finished a long day of killing it at Keystone Mt. Shane looked like a pro while I spent most of the time on my bum, which is probably why it hurts SO much.

Great angle of the gym and the amazing top out boulders

Shane bouldering in the Dojo cave

It was a great day at the Spot Gym. It was also pretty cool the Matt Segal made it over from the Red and Sonny Trotter stopped by to climb!

The Spot Gym at Boulder CO

This 3 year old had some amazing foot work. Must be Lisa Rands daughter. Oh yeah and she sesnt the climb!
